About Barrier

Barrier

noun.

1. A boundary or limit.

2. An obstacle or impediment.

3. Something immaterial that obstructs or impedes behavior.

4. The Einstein Barrier, the Absolute Cosmic Speed Limit... or otherwise known as the Light Speed Barrier.

5. A proposed concept science fiction television series.

The proposition for a Film and/or TV series, known as "Barrier", was created out of a need by the shows creator to see more original space adventure oriented science fiction stories on television.

Whittaker felt that most shows, of the type that were playing at the time, were mostly remakes, reruns, reboots of older established shows, set around military ships and crews, or usurpers of oppressive government bodies.

In contrast Barrier is intended to be a new feel science fiction series, set amongst the action, drama, and lives of a professional space racing team on the fringes of Allied space.

Featuring powerful story telling, great actors, and cutting edge cinematography, to tell dynamic and exciting new stories from a universe of characters not to dissimilar to ourselves.

Set in a turbulent universe, where "if you're not fast, you're nothing!"

Barrier focuses on the Barrier Racing League, a racing organization that is sponsored by the government to promote the design and development of faster normal space propulsion systems.

The annual winner of this race circuit earns a contract to design military propulsion systems for fighter craft, and heavy destroyer class vessels.

The Barrier Racing League enjoys a strong following of over several billion race fans from all around the Alliance, who follow, and bet their fortunes on the competitions to see who will win the day... and the grand prize... the extremely lucrative government contract, and the United Alliance Design Award for Advances in Space Propulsion.
