Started writing the feature film script yesterday, seems to be flowing pretty nicely now. As daunting and big as it is, I think it’ll be very fulfilling, even if it gets rewritten, the main purpose of the exercise is to have something to show producers.

For the past few months we have been working mainly on story, just getting the base for the script as solid, exciting, and interesting as we can make it.

We’re pretty excited by it, should be a really good thing to bring to Australia, trying to break some new ground, work some long running threads in there, but also craft a story that the mainstream audience can enjoy.

Next task in the script, plan the racing scene out, allot is going on with this one, and it’s what kicks off all the big action in the second half of the story… exciting stuff.

Wow, it’s been a while since I posted last, and I apologize for that, but I’ll try harder from now on to provide more frequent updates and posts about the production.

Since the release of the short film we have been in touch with, gained the interest, and support from a great bunch of fans, and from their urging we are pushing forward to develop a feature script for a major release of “Barrier”.

It’s early days yet, but presently we are writing plots, story outlines for the screenplay, it’s all very positive. Even though the story has changed somewhat from the short, it is evolving in a great direction, with a vast universe of characters, that really does align more closely with where I wanted it to go originally.

As we forge ahead, to endeavor to make this thing a reality, we are meeting with producers, talented actors, and artists. It’s a real privilege to be able to engage with others that are as passionate about my dream as much as I, and humbling to have the support of a growing fan base, I tip my hat to you all.

Thank you I could not do this without you,

We had a fantastic time this past weekend 15th – 17th October 2010, at the Armageddon Expo to launch Barrier: The Invisible Machine, a short movie based on the larger story that we are pitching to be produced as a TV series.

We had the opportunity to socialize with such actors as, Sylvester McCoy, Claudia Christian, Bruce Hopkins, Matthew Werkmeister, Bill Farmer, Jay Lagaaia, and Jonny Fairplay, to name but a few. I wanted to try to chat with Michael Shanks and Ben Browder, but I chickened out for some reason.

Our screening went great, the screen was not set up so well with lots of light pollution, but the short and concept was well received, about 200 people attended and stayed for over half an hour to ask questions and talk with us about the show.

There is definitely allot of good will down here for scifi, the entire audience approached it with a collective pride, as it is a local Australasian born project.

We would also like to put a big thank you out to all those that came, and especially those that put up such good questions, one of the most important things for us is the fan input, as it helps us iron out the creases and bring to light areas where we can improve the project.

Well, the whirl wind is over for now, and it’s back to semi normality, next big challenge facing us is that big mountain, getting a deal.

Probably the most under represented ship in the short, and one of the more interesting in the movie is "The Beast."
The Origins of the Beast is an interesting one though, but in the story, officially the info on the pilot and the ship is…

Pilot: Christopher "Chris" Koda
Chris is an ambitious pilot, with his eyes set on toppling James’s run in the local winning circle, Usually placing second in these races, he’s tailored his ship for high speed straights, usually a ship like this cant take the turns, but his unique thruster set up does allow for turn on dime maneuvers, He’s a bit impatient and agressive, and his racing reflects that.

Back in the real world, the inspiration for the ship itself is based on a local Melbourne car of the same name, owed by actor Mr Eric Banner. Our designer Sunny’s challenge was to capture the essence of the car, without it looking too much like a car, but retaining the characteristics of the classic Aussie Falcon.

Terry had a good meeting with our sound guy in Melbourne, and yours truly even put some time into it with some help from our composer, Anthony, it’s been a really collaborative effort every step of the way, and I am very grateful to everyone that’s put their time and skill into this project.

I have to say though, now that there is a temp music track, and a rough sound scape, I am really enjoying watching it again, it feels like a professional production now.

We recently put together a new trailer for the pitch, we’ll put it online at the end of the month after it’s been reviewed by our contacts overseas, we want to thank Ms Claudia Christian for her help and participation in the new trailer, Mr Peter Lauritson for arranging the studio session, and Thierry Couturier for using his lunch hour to help us. It was generous and kind of them, and very much appreciated.
